China's Adhesive Output to Top 2.5 Million Tons This Year Source from: TobaccoChina Online-08/01/2000 08/01/2000 ![]() China’s annual output of adhesives will top 2.5 million tons this year, and adhesive production, the fastest growing sector in the chemical industry, will make greater progress in the next few years, according to a news release from the Third China International Exhibition of Adhesives and Sealants, which opened on May 18.
China has made great progress in the production of adhesives and sealants through technical transformation, development of new products, and introduction of new technology and equipment. Such products are now widely used in packaging, textiles, construction, electronics and metallurgical sectors. China’s annual output of synthetic adhesives rose from 200,000 tons in 1985 to 2.07 million tons in 1998; the output was estimated at 2.4 million tons in 1999, and is expected to rise to 2.6 million tons in 2000. The annual growth rate is over 16%, and the annual output value has reached 13 billion yuan.
