China Makes 100,000 Tons of Polypropylene Fiber Cigarette Tow a Year

At present, there are more than 20 enterprises making polypropylene fiber cigarette tow in China, with a combined capacity of about 100,000 tons. The total includes 20,000 ton/year for Wuxi Taiji Industrial Co., Ltd., 10,000 ton/year for Nantong Sanlian Cigarette Filter Tow Factory, 7,500 ton/year for Zhuhai Cigarette Filter Materials Co., Ltd., 7,000 ton/year for Jiamusi Filtering Materials Co., Ltd., 2,500 ton/year for Changde Jin Furong Chemical Fiber Co., Ltd., 2,000 ton/year for Anhui Cigarette Filter Tow Factory, and 50,000 tons a year from other enterprises. All these add up to 99,000 tons a year. Hongda Chemical Fiber Factory under Luoyang Petrochemical Plant imported technology and equipment from Italy in early 1990s for a 2,500-ton production line of polypropylene fiber cigarette tow. After upgrading, the factory now has a production capacity of 3,000 tons of cigarette tow. Hongda has decided that it will use Chinese technology and equipment on a new 2,000-ton production line for low denier number polypropylene fiber cigarette tow. Enditem SOURCE FROM: Cel.gov.cn
