Xiangfan Cigarette Factory Invites Biddings from Suppliers

Xiangfan Cigarette Factory in Hubei Province has invited biddings from suppliers for more than 200 million yuan worth of cigarette materials. The auctioning is being conducted on both traditional and online media. The factory has run advertisements on eight major newspapers including Economic Daily and Guangming Daily in Beijing, Ta Kung Pao in Hong Kong, and Hubei Daily. And it is learned that the factory is the first in China’s tobacco sector to auction for cigarette materials supplies on the Internet. On December 10, 2000 a businessman from Hangzhou in east China bought bidding documents from the factory, marking the start of the auctioning. Factory Director Wu Peigao said that through the auctioning the factory hopes to improve the quality of material supplies and reduce cost, and the auctioning would also help to build up the factory’s prestige.
