Yuxi Tipping Paper Factory Develops Upscale Product 12/19/2000 ![]() Yuxi Tipping Paper Factory in Yunnan Province has completed its project of developing perforated tipping paper for upscale cigarette production after four years of efforts.
The factory initiated the project in 1996 with approval from the provincial department of science and technology, aiming to reduce tar level in cigarettes. In 1997 the project was listed among the state’s key high-technology projects.
While implementing the project, the factory developed a technology for making special ink, and solved problems in making the material paper and electronic perforation. The electronically perforated tipping paper was named a key new product for the year 1997 by the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the factory was named the first designated maker of cigarette materials by China Tobacco Materials Corporation.
On November 24, experts from the provincial tobacco company, Hongta Group and related provincial departments made an assessment of the project. The experts believed that the development of the electronically perforated tipping paper and special ink can effectively reduce tar content in cigarettes and enhance the anti-counterfeiting of brand-name cigarettes. They hold that the tipping paper and related technology set new records in China. Enditem
