<strong>China: Changde Tobacco Machinery Holds Symposium on Production-manufacturing Alliance</strong>

Changde Tobacco Machinery Co., Ltd. in south central China's Hunan Province held on May 23 the 2014 symposium of councils for association of production-manufacturing strategic alliance, with calls for enhancing the technical capacity, strengthening quality control and promoting development of enterprises.

Chaired by Director Zhou Hongli of the Production Department of Changde Tobacco Machinery Co., Ltd., the meeting was attended by top leaders of the administrative office, the chief engineers office, the production department, the procurement department, the quality inspection department, the production technology department and the comprehensive planning department; the quality control deputy chief engineer of the chief engineers office of Changde Tobacco Machinery Co., Ltd.; representatives from nine other institutions with the relevant councils for association of production-manufacturing strategic alliance; and representatives from two particularly invited institutions.

Also present at the meeting were Changde Tobacco Machinery Co., Ltd. Board of Directors Chairman and General Manager Zhou Shiwei and Deputy General Manager Yan Chongyang.

At the meeting, the top leaders of the production department, the chief engineers office and the quality inspection department respectively delivered relevant reports on the management of external coordination and outsourcing in 2012 and 2013; prospects for situation in 2014; external coordination, self-control over quality and operation; evaluation and grading of the performance of suppliers in 2012 and 2013; supplier quality analysis in 2012 and 2013; and the 2014 quality requirements.

The meeting reported about a list of the two institutions that have withdrawn from the association, approved renewal of the status of an institution in the association and the accession of a new institution to the association, honored 14 excellent suppliers for the association in 2012 and 2013, and granted the relevant nameplates and issued rewards for 2012 and 2013.

The participants, in light of the work of production for 2014, put forward quite many opinions and proposals for how to enhance the technical capacity, strengthen quality control, promote enterprise development, etc.

In an address delivered at the meeting, Yan Chongyang put forward requirements for suppliers in the following four respects:

Firstly, it would be inevitable for Changde Tobacco Machinery Co., Ltd. to reform the structure of products. Therefore, suppliers need to step up efforts to adapt themselves to the requirement for producing new products.

Secondly, as integrity is a foundation for cooperation, all suppliers need to strictly exercise self-control over possible supply of sub-standard products. Meanwhile, Changde Tobacco Machinery Co., Ltd. will tighten up efforts for seeking compensation for damage and conducting supervision and control.

Thirdly, as the sales of ZJ17 products have kept declining, all suppliers need to prevent overproduction and excessive inventories.

And fourthly, as the scope of tender invitation for procurement will be further enlarged, all suppliers should strive to sharpen their competitive edge. Effective competition will be a direction of development in future.

At the meeting, Zhou Shiwei delivered a concluding speech, in which he expressed the hope that both the supplier and the buyer need to strengthen communication, make concerted efforts for promoting research and development to higher levels, optimize resources for external coordination, have good faith cooperation, and enhance the awareness about self-control over quality.

He proposed that all institutions in the association include quality control into indexes for performance grading, and manage to guarantee rapider and better development of Changde Tobacco Machinery Co., Ltd. through promotion of the comprehensive strength of all sides.  Enditem
