Germany: Weidenhammer Says Deal Off for Two A&R Units

Weidenhammer Packaging Group, a German producer of composite cans for loose tobacco, said negotiations to buy A&R Carton Lund and Flextrus from Sweden's AR Packaging Group have collapsed. 

"We regret that A&R Packaging Group has broken off talks with us and that the acquisition will not take place as planned", said Managing Director Ralf Weidenhammer.

Weidenhammer Packaging in November announced it had signed a letter of intent to purchase the units, and planned to integrate production sites in Lund and Halmstad in Sweden, and Highbridge in the UK, by the end of the year. The German packager operates a dozen production sites that generate annual sales of EUR 250 million (USD 342 million). Enditem
