Germany: Weidenhammer Acquires Two Units from AR Packaging

Weidenhammer Packaging Group, a German producer of composite cans for loose tobacco, will purchase subsidiaries A&R Carton Lund and Flextrus from Sweden's AR Packaging Group, the company said.

"This acquisition is of great strategic importance", said Managing Director Ralf Weidenhammer. "It will allow us to further expand our position in the global packaging market, and acquire new markets and customers."

Weidenhammer expects to integrate production sites in Lund and Halmstad in Sweden, and Highbridge in the UK, by the end of the year. The three facilities employ about 400 people, the company said. Enditem
