China: Research, Development and Design Platform Application Project Passes Test

A distributed collaborative parallel research, development and design platform KDF4 application project executed by Xuchang Tobacco Machinery Co., Ltd. in central China's Henan Province has recently passed a technical test for application conducted by a panel of experts organized by China Tobacco Machinery Group Co., Ltd.

The passing of the technical test for application has enabled Xuchang Tobacco Machinery Co., Ltd. to become the first holding enterprise under China Tobacco Machinery Group Co., Ltd. capable of cooperating with the technology center of China Tobacco Machinery Group Co., Ltd. in conversional designing of new products through the distributed collaborative parallel research, development and design platform.

The distributed collaborative parallel research, development and design platform application project is capable of realizing cooperation between holding enterprises under China Tobacco Machinery Group Co., Ltd. and the technology center of China Tobacco Machinery Group Co., Ltd. in establishing project development teams free from geographical limitation, realizing targets for interregional resources sharing, project management, research and development, etc.

The execution of the distributed collaborative parallel research, development and design platform application project was started in 2009. Integration of hardware systems for the project was completed in October 2011. The project began to have functions of distributed collaboration in July 2012.

The KDF4 project is a project for conversional designing of new products with joint participation by designers from both the technology center of China Tobacco Machinery Group Co., Ltd. and Xuchang Tobacco Machinery Co., Ltd. through the distributed collaborative parallel research, development and design platform. To test the applicability of the distributed collaborative parallel research, development and design platform, China Tobacco Machinery Group Co., Ltd. decided to conduct the application test on the China Tobacco Machinery Group Co., Ltd., with the KDF4 application project as a sample.

After conducting the technical rest, the panel of experts expressed satisfaction over the functions of the system, and eventually drew a conclusion that the distributed collaborative parallel research, development and design platform KDF4 application project was up to the relevant standards.

The smooth passing of the technical test is of an important role in promoting integration of the technological resources of China Tobacco Machinery Group Co., Ltd., promoting the overall technological innovation capacity of the company, and upgrading the collective performance of research, development and designing.
