China: Prototype of Ultrahigh Speed Cigarette Making Unit Passes Appraisal Source from: Changde Tobacco Machinery Co., Ltd. 07/02/2013 ![]() A prototype of the ZJ116 ultrahigh speed cigarette rolling, joining and packing unit developed by Changde Tobacco Machinery Co., Ltd. in south central China's Hunan Province passed a stringent appraisal for technical acceptance at a workshop held in Shanghai City on June 3-4. At the "workshop for appraising the prototype of the ultrahigh speed rolling, joining and packing unit developed in the execution of a major exclusive project of introduction of technology and for unveiling achievements hereof", a panel of experts with the appraisal board attentively heard the Report on Research Under the Project of developing the ZJ116 ultrahigh speed cigarette rolling, joining and packing unit, the Report on Work Under the Project and the Report on Application by Users as well as the Report on Prototype Test conducted by the appraisal board, inspected the operation of the prototype, reviewed the whole package of designs and standards and the technical documentation, and conducted inquiries. After earnest discussion, the appraisal board unanimously agreed that the development of the ZJ116 ultrahigh speed cigarette rolling, joining and packing unit with imported technology has been successful, that its technical and performance indexes have reached the level of the same type of machines imported, and that some of its indexes including the adaptability to raw and auxiliary materials have exceeded the level of the same type of machines imported. The successful development of the unit has contributed to filling a gap in the development of ultrahigh speed cigarette making machines in China, has realized a leap forward from high speed to ultrahigh speed in domestic production of cigarette making machines, has indicated that the development and manufacturing capacity of China's tobacco machinery industry has reached a new level, signifies yet another milestone in the development of tobacco machinery technology by China's tobacco industry, and has contributed to laying a fine technical basis for China to independently develop a new generation of ultrahigh speed cigarette making machines, according to the appraisal board. Therefore, the appraisal board unanimously agreed to have the prototype pass the appraisal for technical acceptance. At the workshop, Deputy General Manager Qu Wei of China National Tobacco Machinery Group Co., Ltd. delivered a report on major achievements of China's tobacco machinery industry entitled Vigorous Promotion of Technological Progress by the Tobacco Machinery Industry in Striving to Provide Technical Equipment Support and Guarantee for the Development of China's Tobacco Industry. The report introduced major achievements of Changde Tobacco Machinery Co., Ltd. in technical and quality improvement of medium- and high-speed cigarette making machines over recent years, and the results of development of the new-type 8,000 cigarettes/per minute cigarette rolling and joining machine. Deputy Director-General Li Keming of the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration (STMA) attended the workshop and delivered a speech. In the speech, Li Keming first of all extended congratulations on behalf of the STMA for the successful appraisal of the prototype of the ultrahigh speed rolling, joining and packing unit developed in the execution of the major exclusive project of introduction of technology. At the same time, Li Keming pointed out that China's tobacco machinery industry shall continue adhering to the development path of "introduction, digestion, absorption and re-innovation", attach greater importance to independent innovation, and practically well fulfill its duty of providing service, support and guarantee for the tobacco industry, in striving to make greater contribution to the development of the tobacco industry. Attending the workshop were relevant leaders of the STMA, representatives from all China Tobacco regional companies, all local tobacco monopoly administrations, Zhengzhou Tobacco Research Institute, Hefei Designing Institute of China National Tobacco Corporation and China National Tobacco Machinery Group Co., Ltd. as well as representatives from Hauni and Focke.
