US: Davidoff to Auction Rare S.T. Dupont Lighter for Hurricane Relief Source from: cigaraficionado 11/29/2012 ![]() Though 7 p.m. is normally closing time for New York's Davidoff cigar shop on Madison Avenue, this Wednesday evening, 7 o'clock will mark the start of Davidoff's charity auction, a special event for the victims of Hurricane Sandy. And on the auction block: The S.T. Dupont Renaissance Ligne 2 lighter, a one-of-a-kind piece with an estimated retail value of $7,900.
![]() "The event is open to the public," said general manager Luis Torres. "S.T. Dupont conceived of the idea. Since the Davidoff of Geneva flagship store on Madison Avenue is the only S.T. Dupont 'shop-in-shop' in the United States-and the biggest seller of Dupont in the country-they thought it made sense to have this nice event with us." The lighter was carved from a piece of solid brass by French engraver Frederic Krill, who spent 85 hours on the intricate leaf designs. Its scrolling floral patterns pay homage to the Italian Baroque era. "It's a privilege, through the generosity of Davidoff and S.T. Dupont, to auction this exquisite lighter that will help so many whose lives have been devastated by the disaster of Hurricane Sandy," said Torres. Proceeds from the auction will be donated to the United Way of New York City charity. Enditem |
