New Corinthian Filter to Provide A Unique Smoking Experience Source from: Filtrona Filters 11/02/2012 ![]() Filtrona Filters, a division of Filtrona PLC, has launched a new addition to its Icon range of innovative, premium filters, the Corinthian Filter. Named after a type of column used in Greek architecture, which it resembles both in form and style, the Corinthian filter uses acetate shaping technology to offer high visual impact for brand differentiation combined with robustly constructed flutes which are resistant to crushing during production and use. It also offers the consumer a unique and pleasant smoking experience by delivering a mix of air and smoke at the same time. The Corinthian filter has been developed to meet the growing demand for high quality filters that offer visual differentiation possibilities which can also be used as indicators of performance and flavour. ![]() The increasing purchasing power of consumers in status-conscious markets like Russia, China and Southern Asia Pacific and the need to maintain revenue growth in established markets like Western Europe and the USA, has led to an increase in a practice referred to by Euromonitor as 'premiumisation’. Patrick Meredith, Innovations Director for Filtrona Filters, explains: "In this context, premiumisation describes the leveraging of brands to increase the value, and therefore price, of a cigarette. One way of achieving this is through the use of visual products, such as Icon range style filters, as brand differentiators. To meet the subsequent growing demand for these filter types, Filtrona Filters has expanded its manufacturing capacity and also developed the innovative Corinthian filter." The Corinthian filter is a multi-segment cellulose acetate filter which uses innovative, sophisticated acetate shaping technology to create between one and six distinct flutes along the length of the mouth end filter segment which is then surrounded with plug wrap. The end appearance is highly distinctive as a result and can be used as a brand differentiator as well as a visual indicator of performance. The production process used delivers a filter with the greatest flute definition available yet in the market and a robust construction which makes the flutes resistant to crushing during manufacture and use, adding to the premium quality look and feel. The flutes also mean that a mix of air and smoke is delivered to the consumer at the same time, providing a special and satisfying smoking experience. As a multi-segment filter and, like all Icon range filters, the Corinthian filter can incorporate activated carbon to deliver additional filter performance. It can also be combined with flavoured and coloured acetate segments, or as a recessed filter for taste and visual benefits, and is currently available in standard circumference. Enditem |
