China: Pact Signed on Establishing Modern Leaf Tobacco Redrying, Processing Park

Guizhou Leaf Tobacco Redrying Co., Ltd. in southwest China"s Guizhou Province signed on September 13 an agreement with Guiyang Economic-Technological Development Area in the provincial capital city of Guiyang on the establishment of a modern leaf tobacco redrying and processing park in Guiyang City. At the signing ceremony, a leader of Guizhou Leaf Tobacco Redrying Co., Ltd. specifically introduced the basic situation of the project to establish the modern leaf tobacco redrying and processing park on the basis of relocation and technological transformation of Guiyang Leaf Tobacco Redrying Factory affiliated to the company. In an address delivered at the ceremony, a chief leader of the working committee of Guiyang Economic-Technological Development Area said that steps will be taken to strengthen communication and coordination between the two sides, actively do a good job of providing service for the execution and construction of the project, and make concerted efforts to realize an early start, early construction and early entry into operation of the park. It was reported that in efforts to satisfy the demand for production and development, Guizhou Leaf Tobacco Redrying Co., Ltd. is planning to relocate the existing Guiyang Leaf Tobacco Redrying Factory to the Xiaomeng Industry Park in Guiyang Economic-Technological Development Area, and build it into the modern leaf tobacco redrying and processing park, known as Guiyang Leaf Tobacco Processing Industry Park. More than 900 mu (60 hectares) of land will be expropriated for the project. An exclusive 12,000kg/h export-oriented tobacco sheet production line and a 12,000kg/h production line exclusively for the Double Happiness cigarette brands family of Guangdong Province will be built in the park, with the reservation of room for future establishment of a separate 12,000 kg/h production line there. A series of support facilities including corresponding leaf tobacco raw materials storages, finished products storages, by-products storages, auxiliary materials storages, pesticide storages and other storage facilities will be built at the park. Meanwhile, the headquarters and technology center of Guizhou Leaf Tobacco Redrying Co., Ltd. will also be built at the park. The total investment in the project is estimated at 2.2 billion yuan (350 million U.S. dollars). Construction of the project will be started in late 2012 and the whole project is expected to be completed in June 2015. After completion of construction of the project, Guiyang Leaf Tobacco Processing Industry Park will have a designed annual leaf tobacco redrying and processing capacity of over 1.6 million dan (80,000 tons), which will contribute to further promoting automation of the enterprise"s storage facilities to higher levels, better providing its customers with high-quality service of leaf tobacco processing and storage, and providing favorable guarantee for promoting raw materials production and leaf tobacco processing in Guizhou Province to higher levels. The signing of the agreement signifies the taking of a substantive step in the execution of the project of establishing Guiyang Leaf Tobacco Processing Industry Park.
