China: Tobacco Cutting Machinery Development Project Passes Technical Appraisal Source from: Qinhuangdao Tobacco Machinery Co., Ltd. 07/31/2012 ![]() A large capacity flexible curved (straight) blade horizontal revolving knife leaf tobacco cutting machinery development project jointly executed by China Tobacco Machinery Technology Center Co., Ltd. and Qinhuangdao Tobacco Machinery Co., Ltd. passed a technical appraisal performed by a panel of experts formed by China Tobacco Machinery Group Co., Ltd. on July 9-11, under organization by the Science and Technology Department of the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration (STMA).
The technical appraisal was conducted during a meeting held in Changsha City of south central China’s Hunan Province in accordance with the requirement of the Notice of the General Office of the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration on Holding the Meeting on Technical Appraisal of the Large Capacity Flexible Curved (Straight) Blade Horizontal Revolving Knife Leaf Tobacco Cutting Machinery Development Project.
Deputy General Manager Qu Wei of China Tobacco Machinery Group Co., Ltd., leaders of the relevant departments of some China Tobacco regional industrial companies and relevant personnel from the institutions executing the project attended the meeting, and visited the site of operation of a prototype of the SQ365/366 large capacity flexible leaf tobacco cutting machine at Changsha Cigarette Factory.
The large capacity flexible curved (straight) blade horizontal revolving knife leaf tobacco cutting machinery development project was a major exclusive scientific-technological research and development project assigned by China National Tobacco Corporation in 2009.
During the period of technical appraisal, five experts with the testing group, in accordance with the requirement of the Program for Testing, completed testing in terms of technological quality, equipment performance, electric control, energy consumption, etc, and wrote testing reports. The technical appraisal committee comprising nine experts with the tobacco industry of China carefully heard reports on the work of research and development under the project and technology research reports written by the taskforce that executed the project, the testing reports written by the team of testing experts and user reports written by Changsha Cigarette Factory of China Tobacco Hunan Industrial Co., Ltd.; examined reports on scientific-technological novelty retrieval and the designs and technical data of relevant products; and inspected actual operation of the prototype of the SQ365/366 large capacity flexible leaf tobacco cutting machine at Changsha Cigarette Factory. After raising questions and conducting discussions, the committee unanimously agreed to approve the project.
The committee produced the following opinions on the technical appraisal of the project: “The project, by means of combination between technology integration and independent research and development, led to innovative designing of the SQ36X large capacity flexible leaf tobacco cutting machine meeting the demand of characteristic technologies for producing Chinese-style cigarettes, which is in possession of 14 patent technologies, which boasts many points of technological innovation including flexible leaf tobacco cutting, a large production capacity, leaf tobacco cutting with a heavy water content, the cut tobacco length control function and cut tobacco quality and accuracy control, which meets advanced world levels in terms of overall technologies. It is hereby proposed that research for application be further deepened, and that continued improvement and strengthening be made in the process of generalization.”
The successful execution of the project was in completion of research of major exclusive scientific-technological research topics, and was compatible with the demand of development of technologies for leaf tobacco cutting for producing Chinese-style cigarettes. It is of great significance to providing technology and equipment for the development of Chinese-style cigarette products, promoting cigarette production in China to higher levels, enhancing the independent research and development capacity of China’s tobacco industry, promoting technological progress of home-manufactured tobacco machinery, promoting development of China’s tobacco industry, substituting home-manufactured machinery for imported products, reducing investment in equipment, saving hard currencies, raising economic efficiency of Chinese tobacco machinery manufacturers, mastering core technologies of tobacco machinery with independent intellectual property rights, and freeing China’s tobacco industry from inhibition by foreign leaf tobacco cutting technologies.
