Filtrona Filter Products has launched Diamond Menthol Thread, an innovative menthol flavored filter for use with both manufactured and roll-your-own cigarettes. The new product, which is the latest addition to Filtrona's Sensory Range of filters, has a patented design that incorporates a colored cellulose acetate thread through the centre of the filter. The thread gives the filter a unique end appearance that presents to consumers a point of visual differentiation and a strong visual indicator of menthol flavoring. The Diamond Menthol Thread is made from non-wrapped acetate (NWA); so it uses less paper than do wrapped acetate filters. And when combined into a multi segment filter it provides a neater and more appealing end appearance. For the RYO market, the filter is available in both loose tip and pop-a-tip format, and offers users an effective and simple way to apply the taste of menthol to tobacco. The tips can even be placed in a pouch to flavor the tobacco before rolling. The NWA design means the Diamond Menthol Thread filter can be easily combined into RYO cigarettes, as the rougher outer surface prevents slippage during rolling.
