The Black Label El Presidente runs on butane fuel, but it's more than just another torch lighter. It's an innovation. The jet on the El Presidente lighter doesn't shoot out a single rod of intense flame. Instead it emits a triangular flat flame that resembles the head of a paintbrush. This diffused flame mimics a lit match or cedar strip, placing considerable lighting control into the hands of a cigar enthusiast. Rather than torching your cigar, the flame (which is about 3/8 of an inch wide and wind resistant) encourages the gentle toasting of the cigar's foot in a smooth motion, similar to painting. The calm flame makes touch-ups easier as well. It also uses less butane than a conventional torch lighter. The lighting action on the El Presidente is simple and smooth. The cap flips back with a flick of the thumb and a sliding ignition button on the body triggers the flame. The El Presidente's all-metal design is solid in the hand and it feels light in the pocket, not at all cumbersome. The lighter comes in two designs-a copper and black scheme or an all-black carbon-fiber model.
