Black Box Opened to Reveal the Dance of Life

The Black Box of German designer and illustrator, Sebastian Onufszak, was opened last week at a reception in the Prototyp Museum in Hamburg to reveal a short movie about the cycle of life. Onufszak's creation was presented along with works created previously by other designers who have taken up the challenge of Iggesund Paperboard's Black Box Project. The project calls on leading designers to fill a black box with contents that are relevant from a design viewpoint and that place tough demands on Iggesund's flagship product, Invercote. The project involves, too, exhibiting the black boxes and their contents in different parts of the world; so, with each new box, the exhibition grows. The Black Box itself has been awarded a Swiss Star for its qualities. "My Black Box idea is a surrealistic short movie called 'Still Life in a Circle' about the renaissance of creativity - about hope and desperation, life and death and about lightness and darkness and also about the history of Iggesund," said Onufszak. "It is like a journey without a specific destination - just start travelling. Thereby you are influenced by your natural surroundings, at crossroads where you decide to turn left or right spontaneously. "Your journey could always lead to a different place, depending on your mood. The inspiration arises from the direction you choose and never ends. That's why the movie will never be the same. "I am planning to refine it during the next years - every year an updated version." The project has attracted a number of designers, most of them for the same reasons as outlined by Onufszak. "I was attracted by the creative freedom - being a part of a fantastic project which allows designers to expand their horizons and create something really unique," he said. Enditem
