China: Enterprises Succeed in Developing Reconstituted Tobacco Product

Taicang Haiyan Reconstituted Tobacco Sheets Co., Ltd. and Beijing Cigarette Factory of Shanghai Tobacco Group have succeeded in developing a reconstituted tobacco product for use in making blend-type cigarettes, as a result of the execution of their "project of research for developing blend-type paper process reconstituted tobacco sheet products". Recently, the "project of research for developing blend-type paper process reconstituted tobacco sheet products" smoothly passed a stringent appraisal for technical acceptance. The success contributed to filling a gap in the development of blend-type reconstituted tobacco sheet products by Taicang Haiyan Reconstituted Tobacco Sheets Co., Ltd., and laying a solid technological foundation for continued joint development of new reconstituted tobacco sheet products between Taicang Haiyan Reconstituted Tobacco Sheets Co., Ltd. and Beijing Cigarette Factory in future. So far, the research project has entered the stage of conversion of research achievements of technologies developed in the execution of it for practical application in cigarette production. In mid-October, Taicang Haiyan Reconstituted Tobacco Sheets Co., Ltd. processed a first batch of blend-type reconstituted tobacco sheets for Beijing Cigarette Factory to the tune of 50 tons, for use by Beijing Cigarette Factory to produce blend-type cigarettes of its Blue Times and Blue Fashion brand families. It was reported that in 2012, Taicang Haiyan Reconstituted Tobacco Sheets Co., Ltd. will increase the production of blend-type reconstituted tobacco sheets to the tune of 250 tons for Beijing Cigarette Factory, for use to produce blend-type cigarettes of the time-honored Zhongnanhai (The South Central Lake) brand family.
