FILTHAI EXPANDS PRODUCTION WITH MOVE TO NEW PURPOSE-BUILT FACILITY

Filthai, one of the operations of Filtrona Filter Products, has moved to a new, custom built, facility in Bangkok, Thailand. The move to the larger premises, which cover over 7000m2 in total, facilitates an increase in production for Filthai, with the capacity for expansion in the future.

PT Sreekumar, Managing Director, commented on the move: "The enhanced operational capability of the new facility increases Filthai's ability to respond to developments in the tobacco market and enables us to provide our customers in Asia with an even better service. The new facility offers customers a highly efficient source of filter products, supported by Filtrona's technical knowledge and extensive experience in the Asia region." The new, fully air-conditioned facility has been designed for optimum machine and material storage and features production and testing equipment, with a factory that meets the ISO 9000 standard as well as Filtrona's own internal high standards for quality. There is also a 2500m2 warehouse and a laboratory. In addition, Filthai is embarking on a three year program of upgrades and machinery investment, with space set aside for an additional five machines in the future, as well as a significant and ongoing recruitment drive in order to meet the growing demand for shaped filter products. Filthai produce a range of standard mono acetate, flavoured, CPF and dual filters as well as highly specialised shaped filters in multiple segment formats, which can be tailored for cigarette manufacturer's needs. Work on new filter innovations will be undertaken in close conjunction with the Filtrona Regional Development Centre based in Indonesia. Enditem
