The 6mm and 8mm punches extend opposite each other from the main body of the cutter via spring-loaded sliders controlled by the push of a thumb. Each slider runs along a slot that is shaped so the mechanism can be locked into place, preventing the punch from retracting unexpectedly while cutting your cigar. A push of the trigger on the side of the main body extends the single-blade guillotine, which is capable of cutting cigars up to 54 ring gauge. Though there is some play in the guillotine when it is extracted, the 420JT stainless steel (same as the punches) blade still offers a swift cut.
