Filtrona Filter Products has launched Diamond Menthol, a new, easy-to-use menthol filter tip for the growing roll-your-own (ryo) market.
The new filter, which is available in the Pop-a-Tip™ format, uses non-wrapped acetate (nwa) to prevent slippage when a cigarette is being rolled.

In some markets, consumers are turning to ryo products because of the price advantage they offer, and in countries such as the UK, up to half of all ryo consumers now use filters.
A considerable amount of development has gone into bring the Diamond Menthol filter to market.
"Until recently, it was not possible to add menthol flavouring to an nwa filter as the steaming process used to set the plasticizer would effectively wash away any flavour," said Chris Franklin, innovation and new business development director.
"Filtrona has now addressed this issue by developing an innovative, patent-pending flavour application process that is not affected by steam setting.
"This means it is now possible to have a flavoured ryo filter with the ease-of-use benefits that are associated with nwa."
The Diamond Menthol filter can be placed at the mouth-end of a hand-rolled cigarette to provide the flavor and filtration characteristics more commonly associated with factory-made cigarettes; or it can be placed inside a tobacco pouch to flavor the tobacco. Enditem
