Republic Making €16 Million Investment in Distribution Source from: Tobacco Reporter 11/11/2010 ![]() The Republic Technologies group is to spend €16 million building a new distribution center near Perpignan, in the south of France, where it has its headquarters and global manufacturing site for its rolling papers.
The center, which will be built close to both the Perpignan-Rivesaltes airport and the A9 highway, will help in the distribution of the company's cigarette papers, cigarette tubes, filter tips and optical cleaning products.
The project will take three years and will be conducted in two steps. It will lead to the creation of 50 new jobs.
The first phase, which will cost €10 million, will involve the construction on a 3.5 ha site of a 6,500 m² building scheduled for opening next year.
The company has at its disposal an equivalent area for building the second phase of the project.
In a press note, the company said that it was the world's number one for sales of rolling papers and filter tips, 70 per cent of which were exported mainly to the US, Great Britain, Germany and Spain, and number one in France for sales of rolling papers, filter tips and tubes.
It said it planned to increase its production by 15-20 per cent within the next 2-3 years. Enditem
