New Sensory Filters From Filtrona

Filtrona Filter Products has launched what it is calling the Sensory Range of filters, comprising the Sensation filter and the Strand filter. The Sensation Filter engages with the senses of touch, hearing, smell and taste through the use of a small capsule embedded in each filter. The capsule, which contains a flavored liquid additive with a controlled flavor load, may be squeezed by the smoker at any time during consumption of the cigarette, an action that will produce a popping sound as the capsule bursts and release the odor and flavor. Filtrona says that the Sensation filter enables cigarette manufacturers to provide their customers with the freedom to create a new sensation exactly when they want it. There is also the option to produce a dual segment filter allowing manufacturers to combine the sensory benefits of the Sensation Filter with other additives, such as activated carbon. The Strand Filter is said to engage with the senses of sight and taste. It has a patented, flavored acetate thread that can be varied in thickness from a diameter of under one millimeter to several millimeters. The thread runs through the centre of the filter and can be shaped - for instance, like a star or half moon - and made in a variety of colours, depending on the manufacturer's specific requirements. The thread can be seen at the mouth end of the filter providing manufacturers with additional brand differentiation opportunities. The Sensory Range also includes Filtrona's existing technologies for adding flavor, such as threads and cavities, which can deliver an extensive range of smells and tastes. Enditem
