G.D's spare parts center in India, which is run in partnership with Hitkari Trading Corp. (HTC), has expanded significantly.
The center now stocks spares to the value of $1.5 million, allowing customers to bring down their inventory levels to between 48 hours and 72 hours at no extra cost. Previously, customers had to maintain inventory levels of several months, according to HTC.

"The progress and expansion of this spares and service center demonstrates the total commitment of G.D and HTC to the Indian market," says Arun K. Hitkari, president of HTC.
The center was set up at the request of ITC in 2001 at an initial investment of $84,000. The storing area temperature is maintained between 18 and 26 degrees Celsius with a maximum humidity level of 60 percent throughout the year. Air conditioning prevents corrosion or other damage to the spare parts. Dehumidifiers have also been installed. The spare parts center is open 24 hours per day, seven days per week, except on national holidays.
HTC now intends to add another 15 G.D trained engineers to its staff. Enditem
