New Dedicated Dust Extraction Units for Makers Source from: Tobacco Reporter 11/05/2009 ![]() ESTA Processing has announced the launch of TOBEX, a range of stand-alone dust extraction units suitable for use with all conventional cigarette making machines.
TOBEX units, which are described as small and modular, are said to facilitate dust extraction and filtration during cigarette rod forming and filter tipping directly at the cigarette making machine. In addition, they provide powerful vacuum extraction and dust removal during the tobacco feeding process.
The air that is returned to the work place is cooled to at most 22° C, and the units monitor the returned air to ensure a residual dust level of less than 1 mg/m3.
The collected dust is removed through a rotary valve, which is monitored for tightness, and extracted using an automated vacuum system.
Because of the modular design of the TOBEX units, it is possible also to install an odor reduction device, which is especially targeted at the production of menthol cigarettes, and to handle mentholated dust separately.
Direct connection of TOBEX units to making machines eliminates the need for extensive piping, which results in a significant reduction in the initial investment and considerably lower energy costs.
In addition, recirculating the filtered air back into the work place significantly reduces the energy costs for air conditioning the make/pack area. Enditem
