Cigarette Factory Puts Granular Stem Production Line Into Operation

Yanji Cigarette Factory of Jilin Tobacco Industry Co., Ltd. in northeast China's Jilin Province has recently put into operation a new-type granular stem production line that the enterprise invested over 15 million yuan (2.15 million U.S. dollars) and spent over a year in developing, significantly enhancing its capacity to counter possible risks from the marketplace. The granular stem production line has been jointly developed by Yanji Cigarette Factory and Sichuan Hongpu Technologies Co., Ltd. in southwest China's Sichuan Province. Leaders of Yanji Cigarette Factory said that granular stems are a completely new type of tobacco raw material, and that the porous structure of granular stems not only enables them to become a relatively ideal filling material, but also makes them highly absorptive. Therefore, granular stems cannot only be used as a carrier of raw aromatic substances in cigarette production, but can also play a role in absorbing harmful substances in cigarette smoke to some extent. For the time being, Yanji Cigarette Factory will use the granular stem production line mainly for producing low-tar-level Mount Changbaishan brand cigarettes (with a tar level of 3mg to 5mg), before gradually extending the use of it for the technical improvement of conventional cigarettes and the development of new products with an even lower tar level. The entry into operation of the granular stem production line will not only contribute to bringing a higher economic efficiency for the enterprise, but will also generate favorable social results.
