Following a significant decline in business as a result of the global economic slowdown, Jacobi Systemtechik was recently sold to a strategic investor. This investor wants to focus Jacobi's business on the manufacture and development of specialized packaging machines, while reducing the company's direct involvement with the tobacco industry to the cooperation with Heinen Köhl.
Under the agreement, Jacobi Systemtechnik will manufacture gravity feeders, cigarette transfer and buffer systems, niche packaging machinery and customized solutions exclusively for Heinen Köhl, which will market and further develop these products.
Frank Jacobi, who was managing director and owner of Jacobi Systemtechnik until April 2009, will join Heinen Köhl as global sales manager in June 2009.
Jacobi believes his products will enable Heinen Köhl to provide a wholly integrated system that improves the link between the primary and secondary manufacturing department. Frank Jacobi will be based in Hamburg, Germany, and reports to Eduard Werthmann, managing director at Heinen Köhl. Enditem
