Peter J. Thompson new CFO for Schweitzer-Maudit

ALPHARETTA, Ga. (AP) -- Schweitzer-Mauduit International Inc., which makes tobacco papers, said that Peter J. Thompson, a vice president, on Thursday assumed the new post of chief financial and strategic planning officer. Thompson, 46, replaces Torben Wetche, who is leaving the company voluntarily next Monday after a leading role in streamlining Schweitzer-Mauduit's financial management organization. Besides being chief financial and strategic planning officer, Thompson also becomes treasurer. He will report to Chief Executive Frederic Villoutreix. Thompson has worked for Schweitzer-Mauduit for more than 12 years. Shares closed up 44 cents, or 2.3 percent, to $19.52. Enditem
