Molins Octave Passes Protocol 2 Source from: Tobacco Reporter 12/19/2008 ![]() Dec 18, 2008-After rigorous and thorough testing at Eastern Tobacco in Cairo, Egypt, the first Molins Octave mid-speed cigarette making machine has passed its Protocol 2 test.
During the six-day trial, the machine produced more than 3 million cigarettes per day with an average efficiency of 95.5 percent.
Molins says the machine's excellent result paves the way for further orders from other manufacturers. The company is already building another three machines at its production facility in PlzeĆ, Czech Republic, the first of which will be available with Molins' new TMQS Multiplex laser unit MPL-400.
Exclusive to the Octave, this unit is capable of perforating each cigarette with up to four lines of holes in the cork paper on-line, giving unsurpassed levels of tar, nicotine and quality control.
Molins believes that, in today's economic climate, the Octave, with its lower capital and running costs, is set to become the machine of choice by producing more cigarettes per square meter than any other comparable machine on the market. Enditem
