More Changes at SWM Source from: Tobacco Reporter 12/16/2008 ![]() Dec 15, 2008-At Schweitzer-Mauduit International (SWM), Arnold Alvarez has been appointed general manager, S.E. Asia with responsibility for the company's Indonesian and Philippine paper operations, and for sales of all SWM papers in the region.
Alvarez, who will take up his new responsibilities on January 1, will report to COO, Otto Herbst.
At the same time, Widjaja Jiemy, president, S.E. Asian Operations and general manager, China Tobacco-Mauduit (CTM), has announced his plans to retire from SWM.
In announcing Jiemy's retirement, Wayne Deitrich, retiring chairman of the board and CEO, said Jiemy had led the construction and development of the company's Greenfield paper mill operations at Jiangmen, China. "The Mill construction was completed on schedule and under budget," he said. "The mill is fully operational and has demonstrated its ability to produce world-class cigarette and porous plug wrap papers. I want to thank Widjaja for completing this enormous task in delivering SWM's first manufacturing operation in China."
Jiemy will be replaced as general manager, CTM, by Steve Jiang. Enditem
