Alcan Chief Named Best Executive

Dec 12, 2008-Ilene Gordon, president and chief executive officer of Alcan Packaging, has been named Best Executive by the prestigious Stevie Awards for Women in Business competition. "I am grateful to accept this award on behalf of myself and the employees of Alcan Packaging," she said. "I share this award with our hardworking employees across the globe as an affirmation that our dedication to delivering innovative packaging indeed reaps dividends." The award recognizes individual women executives for their accomplishments during the past year. Gordon has overseen the challenge of successfully leading Alcan Packaging in a highly competitive marketplace amidst an extended, almost 18-month divestment process. She was named Best Executive in the "Non-Services Businesses-More Than 2,500 Employees" category. Gordon, 55, has been president and CEO of Alcan Packaging since December 2006. Enditem
