Amcor Rentsch Builds Cigarette Packaging Plant

A new cigarette packaging plant, built by tobacco packaging company Amcor Rentsch Europe under a EUR 30 million investment plan, will be opened in the village of Dergachi, Kharkiv region, in the coming autumn. This is reported by Ukrainian media referring to a meeting between the group's managing director, Jerzy Czubak, and regional government officials. According to Czubak, two production lines with a capacity of 1.5 billion blanks per annum each are to be built, which will be launched in November 2007 and the first half of 2008 respectively. Construction works have now entered closing stages, and machinery is expected to arrive next month. The plant will employ around 150 workers, Czubak said. The company does not only plan to supply cigarette boxes to Ukrainian manufacturers, but also plans to export them. Enditem
