Nigeria: Kano to Enact Law on Public Smoking

Kano State governor Dr. Abdullahi Unar Ganduje yesterday vowed to enact law banning public smoking in the state.

The governor, who stated this when he visit victims of Sabon Gari market fire disaster, said the law became necessary in order to prevent incessant fire out-break in public places such as markets.

However, he urged victims of the disaster and other traders in the market to adopt modalities that will forestall reoccurrence of fire incidence in the market.

The governor then promised to donate to the victims of the disaster, saying although government will not compensate the victims of their lost but the donation will alleviate their sufferings. Enditem
