South Africa: Tobacco Delivery Van Driver Robbed, Suspect Arrested Source from: South African Police Service 09/01/2015 ![]() A 58-year-old suspect has been arrested for possession of suspected stolen property and is due to appear in the Ntuzuma Magistrate's Court tomorrow. Ten boxes of cigarettes suspected to be taken from a Tobacco delivery van were recovered from his house. On 28 August 2015 at about 12:30, a Tobacco delivery van driver was at G section, KwaMashu delivering cigarettes when the driver was approached by two suspects at gunpoint. The suspects allegedly drove with a few kilometres with the driver before off-loading the cigarettes. They drove him further away from the place of delivery and locked him inside the van before they abandoned it and fled on foot. The KwaMashu police, together with Inanda Crime Intelligence members, followed up on information to a certain house where the cigarettes were found. A man, who failed to give a satisfactory explanation about the cigarettes was arrested and charged accordingly. A case of armed robbery was opened at the KwaMashu police station for further investigation. Officers are working around the clock to trace the outstanding suspects who were involved in this robbery.
