Kenya: Uasin Gishu Passes Bill to Form Smoking Zones

Cigarette smoking in the streets of Eldoret town will soon come to an end.

The Uasin Gishu county assembly on Wednesday passed a motion to stop smoking in public places.

The motion introduced by Moiben MCA Tirus Ting will ensure smoking zones are created in the town. Previously, smokers were not restricted to smoking zones.

The motion was supported by MCAs, who said smoking poses health risks to all.

Ting said the tobacco control motion will end reckless cigarette smoking in the town.

A committee will be formed to identify designated points. Enditem
