Canada: Ontario''s Liberal Government to Ban Flavoured Tobacco Products for Youngsters Source from: TopNews 11/15/2013 Ontario's Liberal government has announced that they will ban the sale of flavoured tobacco products to youngsters aged below 18 years. The government is introducing a bill in which products like chewable tobacco products and flavoured cigarillos will not be allowed to be sold to young people. Health Minister Deb Matthews was of the view that they have been planning to take many initiatives by which young people can be prevented to become addicted to tobacco. The above mentioned legislation is one of the many initiatives. It has been found that the Ontario bill will be bringing changes to an existent restriction. The change that the new ruling will bring is that complete ban will be levied on the sale of flavoured tobacco to youngsters. The bill will not be applicable on tobacco products containing menthol that are especially prefereed by adults. Experts were of the view that these products are the only way by which tobacco companies can legally market their products to children. The Heart and Stroke Foundation is also of the belief that tobacco companies have been targeting youngsters with such products.
