Health Minister Reilly is Determined to Make Ireland Tobacco Free Source from: Top News 07/29/2013 ![]() Health Minister James Reilly is very clear about his goal that he wants to make Ireland tobacco free in next 12 years. In order to achieve his goal, he has been making strategies as well. Reilly was of the view that by 2025, he wants less than one in 20 smokers in Ireland. Dr Reilly does not have even a single positive point about tobacco products. He feels that cigarettes are the only product that is legally available and is able to kill a person. "It's a fight that we cannot turn away from and that we can't afford to lose. It's a battle that will continue until it's won - and it will be won", said Reilly. Reilly seems to be very determined to achieve his goal. Recently, he had a meeting with campaign groups. Some of the many groups that were present in the meeting to discuss harms caused by smoking were the Irish Heart Foundation, Barnardos and Cystic Fibrosis Ireland and the Irish Cancer Society. It has been found that the strategy for which the Cabinet has given green signal is named as Tobacco-Free Ireland. Main aim of the strategy is to bring a decline in smoking rate which is currently 29% to 5%. Enditem |
