Pakistan: FBR to Curb Cigarette Smuggling Source from: The News (pk) 07/08/2013 ![]() The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has decided to set up a helpline to launch countrywide actions against non-duty paid and smuggled cigarettes, said a senior official on Friday. An informer will be incentivised for informing the authority about this, he added. The helpline will work from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm and in the remaining hours of the day an interactive voice recording will assist caller, he said. "The FBR is expecting revenue collection of more than Rs75 billion through taxation on cigarettes in the current financial year," said the official. The FBR team has seized 1.8 million sticks of Melbourne, 350,000 of Chance, 80,000 of Red Classic, 60,000 of Olympic, 49,000 of Gold Street, 80,000 of Classic, 24,000 of Kisan, and 10,000 of Hero brands.
