Malaysia: Ministry Warns Smokers to Stop Smoking during Haze Crisis

Smokers are advised to stop smoking during the haze crisis.

Health Ministry's Disease Control Department deputy director Dr Zainal Ariffin Omar said smokers would stand a higher chance in contracting haze related illnesses.

"Smokers will inhale not only the cigarette smoke but also the dust particles from the air.

"This will eventually lead to a higher risk of them contracting illnesses related to their respiratory system," he said today.

Dr Zainal had earlier distributed face masks to the public at Alamanda shopping complex with a team of officers from the ministry. Enditem
