<strong>China: Big Tobacco under Fire</strong> Source from: Global Times (cn) 05/31/2013 The Chinese Association on Tobacco Control suggested that the Ministry of Civil Affairs should deprive tobacco companies of the right to make public welfare donations, after it found that public welfare donations have become a major forum for tobacco companies to do publicity and promotion, according to the Beijing Morning Post. From January 1 to April 30, the association found the tobacco companies have made 149 donations - 82.6% are public welfare donations. Meanwhile, 245 tobacco advertisement pictures from the donation activities have been collected on social media. The association also suggested that new media and outdoor advertisements be closed for tobacco advertising. Enditem |
