Sudan: Health Ministry Rejects Tobacco Advertisements

Federal Ministry of Health announced its rejection of all types of advertisements on tobacco or promoting or sponsoring it in general.

The Ministry revealed the rate of tobacco users' percentage among the youth which amounted to 14%.

On the occasion of World No Tobacco Day media forum organized by the Ministry, the participants called for pushing forward the local and international efforts to fight tobacco.

National Tobacco Control Programme in the Ministry of Health, Dr. Rudwan Yahia said that despite the signature of Sudan to the Framework Agreement to control tobacco, the country is still suffering tremendous increase in smokers.

WHO official, Limya Al-Tijani said that the Framework Agreement in controlling tobacco is considered the most important document in fighting tobacco as it was accepted widely by the UN. Enditem
