China: Jane Zhang Shoots Anti-Tobacco Charity Ad

Chinese singer Jane Zhang was recently invited by China Health Education Center to make an anti-tobacco charity advertisement in Beijing.

Statistics show that about 740 million non-smokers suffer from secondhand smoke in China, which causes 100,000 deaths in the country every year. Zhang's ad appeals to people to say no to smoking in public spaces.

Zhang said that the cause is one that is close to her heart, since she has a friend who was diagnosed with lung cancer caused by long-term smoking. She said that she hopes more people will realize the impact of secondhand smoke on their health.

The charity ad will be broadcast for the first time on China Central Television (CCTV) on World No Tobacco Day on May 31, 2013. Enditem
