India: Anti-tobacco Day Awareness by Karnataka Cancer Society

A slew of programmes has been chalked out as part of World No Tobacco Day by Karnataka Cancer Society on May 31. Awareness programme will be kick started in the city from Tuesday.

The Society President Nafis Fathima told media that this year many non-government agencies like Global Vision and Indian Red Cross Society besides governmental agencies like Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), State Bank of Mysore and Malleshwaram Co-operative Bank will be joining hands with the Society which will conduct health check ups.

"Diagnostic services like ECG and Ultrasound scanning will also be done at a subsidized rate. A rally has been planned from Malleshwaram grounds on May 31. The cancer Society will conduct poster designing, talk on tobacco induced cancer, free dental screening, oral and other general cancer checkups, exhibition of posters on cancer and a tobacco de-addiction camp will also be held at the Society premises in Vyalikaval," she said.
