Azerbaijan May Ban Fully Smoking in Public Places

Azerbaijani MPs propose to follow the European path of fight against smoking.

Today in Parliament MP Ganira Pashayeva has claimed that smoking in public places is not only harmful to health of the smoker, but also to the health of surrounding people.

"This is a serious problem, and most of countries of the world resorts a ban on smoking in public places. Of course, I'd like it would be on the voluntary basis, but the current situation shows that such a law is necessary. I think at primary stage this matter can be presented at a public hearing," Pashayeva said.

The MP also raised the issue of tightening of measures against persons who sell cigarettes to citizens aged under 18 years, as many trading posts do not adhere to the relevant ban. Enditem
