Russia: Second Reading for Anti-smoking Bill

A bill that would ban tobacco sales at kiosks from June and indoor smoking in most public places one year later is scheduled for a second reading in the Duma on Friday, according to the Moscow Times.
 
In addition to banning kiosk sales, measures that would come into effect this June include prohibiting smoking on short-trip public transportation, in parks and educational institutions. Moviemakers will no longer be allowed to show people smoking in films, the newspaper said on its website.

Smoking will no longer be allowed in all other forms of public transportation and most indoor public sites beginning in June, 2014. Excise tax increases, a minimum pack price for cigarettes and ban on advertising by tobacco companies are planned, the newspaper reported. (pi) Enditem
