Malaysia: Move to Enforce Smoking Ban on Ferries Praised

Penang Port Commission's (PPC) move to make its ferries smoke-free does not seem to bother commuters.
While most commuters said it was a good move, Mohammad Azri Affendi, 26, who uses the ferry frequently, said: "The trip across takes only 25 minutes. The smoking ban hardly matters to me as I can certainly curb my urges for that long."

Jhoti Latchume, 23, a college student, said she welcomed move as it promoted a healthy environment.

Philip Fernandez, 24, said there should be a smoking room for the smokers if there should be such a ban.

It was reported yesterday that the PPC will soon enforce the non-smoking regulation on all its ferries. Enditem
