Indonesia: Cigarette Commercials Banned in East Kalimantan

Starting Wednesday, January 16, the East Kalimantan administration has banned all forms of cigarette ads, promotions and sponsorship. The policy is expected to reduce the number of active and passive smokers in the area.

The regulation was issued together with a declaration by Health Minister Nafsiah Mboi about creating a healthy and smoke-free environment across East Kalimantan.

East Kalimantan Governor Awang Faroek Ishak and other regional heads supported the declaration. The Healthy environment's program was implemented in Balikpapan and marked with the signing of a petition. Enditem
