Pakistan: Fine to be Imposed on Anti-tobacco Law Violators Source from: Pakistan Observer (pk) 01/04/2013 ![]() The federal capital district administration has decided to launch anti-smoking awareness campaign in collaboration with the civil society, traders and educationists. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Islamabad Aamir Ali Ahmed, talking to INP, said that Rs1,000 to Rs100,000 fine could be imposed on the v iolator of the anti-tobacco law under the anti-tobacco drive launched with the support of the trader and business community to strictly implement the law regarding smoking at public places. He added all institutions have assured their support in this regard. The DC further said that the district administration constituted various anti-tobacco teams under the supervision of assistant commissioner. He said that the district administration had issued directives to hotels and restaurants to ban sheesha smoking also and the owners of the restaurants and hotels assured to strictly follow the anti-tobacco law. The drive is aimed at making the federal capital a smoking free city and the district administration and tobacco control cell would spread awareness against smoking at public places, the DC said.
