Chile Launches New Anti-tobacco Label Warnings

MaƱalich says anti-smoking campaign targets young people. The Health Ministry presented its new anti-tobacco health warning label Wednesday, which targets youth and young adults. The label features a new image and text and will be placed on the packaging of all tobacco products beginning Nov. 12.

The new packaging features the graphic image of a leg with an unhealed ulcer caused by occlusive disease, which results from a lack of blood flow when tobacco smoke damages arteries. The image will be featured on half of one side of all tobacco packages and reads "Smoking will kill you. Choose not to smoke." One half of the opposite side of tobacco packaging will feature a text image reading, "Tobacco smoke will kill you and those around you." Enditem
