Reynolds'' Owner, British American Tobacco, Introduces Two New E-Cig Technology Styles Source from: Winston-Salem Journal 12/13/2018 ![]() British American Tobacco, owner of Reynolds American Inc., announced Tuesday it has launched two new styles of its internally developed Vype electronic cigarette product in England. The closed styles are Vype iSwitch and Vype iSwitch Maxx. BAT said they are powered by vaping technology, Vype puretech, that replaces the coil and wick heating mechanism traditionally found in e-cigs. The heating technology is proprietary to BAT and protected by multiple patents. The technology is an ultra-slim stainless-steel blade about the thickness of a human hair. It has a surface area 10 times larger than a traditional coil and wick heating system, providing a much more precise and measured way to heat the e-liquid. BAT said the technology “delivers nicotine more effectively — even with lower strength nicotine e-liquids.” The company also said Vype puretech produces a vapor that contains about 99 percent less toxicants than the smoke from a conventional cigarette.
