Cigarette Smuggling hits BAT Source from: ZNBC 08/11/2016 ![]() Smuggling of cigarettes into Zambia is affecting the revenue of British American Tobacco, Tobacco farmers and the Zambia Revenue Authority-ZRA. British American Tobacco Managing Director Godfrey Machanzi says the firm lost 50 percent of its profit in the last quarter due to cigarette smuggling. Mr Machanzi has explained that the negative impact also affects incomes for farmers and the government which is also losing tax revenue through smuggling of illegal cigarettes in the country. According to the Zambian Law any cigarette pack sold in Zambia should have a tax stamp which indicates that tax has been paid to ZRA. Enditem |
